Harbour King
Our signature room: a deep king bed angled toward the moorings, a reading chair by the glass and a rain shower in slate.
A 140-room waterfront hotel on the Pacific coast — harbour-view rooms, a candlelit gaming floor and a kitchen that cooks what the boats bring in.
The hotel lives in the old cannery warehouse on the north quay. The brick walls, timber beams and loading-bay doors are original; everything you sleep on, sit in and eat from is new.
Mornings here are for the harbour — gulls, ferries, coffee on the balcony. Nights belong to the lantern-lit casino, the oyster bar and a lounge band that plays until the last table closes.
Every room looks over the harbour or the coastal range. Cedar, wool and brass throughout, blackout curtains for the long summer light, and rain showers built for after the beach.

Our signature room: a deep king bed angled toward the moorings, a reading chair by the glass and a rain shower in slate.

A separate sitting room, a soaking tub under the window and a balcony wide enough for breakfast for two above the water.

The top floor of the old hoist tower: two bedrooms, a terrace on three sides and a private table for long dinners with the harbour lights below.

One level below the lobby, behind the original cannery doors: low lantern light, green baize, and a window wall that frames the boats coming in. Open around the clock, with dealers who are happy to teach a first-timer.
The gaming floor is open to guests 19 and older with government-issued photo ID. Play for the evening, not for the bill — set a budget before you sit down. If gambling stops being fun, Gambling Support BC is free, confidential and open 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111.
The menu follows what the boats land at the quay each morning — spot prawns in May, salmon through summer, Dungeness crab when the weather turns.
Open-fire seafood kitchen with a twelve-seat oyster bar and a long wine list from the Okanagan and the islands.
All-day café and bakery in the old net-mending loft: sourdough, smoked salmon benedict and strong coffee.
Cocktails above the casino floor, with live jazz Thursday to Saturday and small plates until the last set.

Filtered seawater, heated to 34°C, in a pool that opens onto the deck. Follow it with the cedar sauna and a cold plunge, or book one of six treatment rooms for kelp wraps and long massages.
